Let you have your ideas and any input regarding the industry in your view. What would like like to see happening and how do you propose we go about doing it.

I wish the organization can create easy access between students and companies which offer training and job employment. Again most of the websites focus mostly on consulting companies and less on construction companies, therefore please provide more exposure of existing construction companies. And i believe in order for the industry to come up with more advanced methods of development, student exchange programmes should be initiated where the students, at a younger age, can have a more diversified way of thinking.

Again it can also be beneficial to take the younger members to an environment different to lecture rooms where leaders in the industry will be invited to teach the younger proffessionals about the culture of the industry, opportuinities in the industry and inspire to change and growth.

Edit Re: SAICE Young Engineers

In order to apply the adage "If the mountain cannot go to Mohammed, then Mohammed must go to the mountain", Professionals in the Civil Engineering field have to sacrifice record time for the transfer or rather, passing down of knowledge and experience to the younger generation who I view as the "mountain". In this case, the consulting as well as the construction professionals should place their hands on board with regards to this issue if the nation truly wishes for sustenance of nobility, high standards as well as morality in the profession to be maintained across generations.
In the younger generation, unfortunately, there seems to be an existing low self-esteem to the extent that the major idea behind their minds with regards to this profession is based on how quickly one could graduate and start earning money. This idea-one that cannot be ignored, notwithstanding, major proponents have to get to the forefront to stimulate the minds of these younger ones to seeing a wider but in-depth picture of what is involved and what society expects of them as sustainers of the environment for the wellbeing of humanity and towards innovation for the amelioration of living standards. The French call the profession "genie civil"-civil genius, which they truly are.I beg the role models of this profession to roll out the "cut and nail" spirit and generate in this promising minds, civil genii. They need enough exposure and outreach.
I want to seize this opportunity to thank SAICE for this forum in particular and in general, for sending her president with crew members to address the Civil Engineering students of CPUT-Bellville yesterday and hope that this trend maintains an upward but forward slope to infinity and never the reverse.
