To recommend and approve all design documentation compiled in the Project Engineering Section and external Consultants by:
• Evaluating and recommending presentations to the Technical Evaluation Committee
• Assuring that all stakeholders were involved with the design and given their inputs and the implementation thereof.
• Assuring that the appropriate National Standard was correctly applied.
• Checking the accuracy of all engineering calculations
• Ensuring the design is comprehensive
• Checking if the final design is in accordance with the approved preliminary design
• Evaluating the technical specifications for New Engineering contract to ensure it conforms to standards
• Performing technical tender adjudication in terms of Tender Evaluation Committee procedures
To introduce and explain all new National Standards and the implementation thereof in the Project Engineering environment by:

• Participating in National Study Committees and working groups
• Providing feedback to the Technology and Quality manager on standards and other documents for TESCOD approval
• Facilitating the introduction of new and approved technologies into the Capital Programme
• Requesting research and investigations for alternative, applicable and appropriate technologies in order to reduce costs and improve levels of customer service
To provide a Project Engineering Design and Coordinator service for complex projects (as defined by the Project Engineering Manager) by:

• Producing the preliminary design
• Appointing the technical team
• Obtaining the necessary technical and financial approval
• Compiling the final design document
• Providing project technical support services
• Assuring project quality control
To interact with the appointment of consulting engineers by:

• Reviewing the technical brief for the letter of appointment for consulting engineers
• Including the setting of key milestones and target dates
• Evaluating and monitor consultant progress and output quality
• Recommending and validating consultant fee invoices
• Undertaking consultant performance appraisals on a bi-annual basis in consultation with commercial and project management
To provide professional technical support/consultancy by:

• Recommending the application of new technologies
• Promoting the holistic evaluation of solutions in order to achieve optimum solutions
• Providing guidance for the implementation of the capital process in the Project Engineering environment
To implement and maintain quality control systems within business environment by:

• Approving design changes
• Implementing documentation control.
• Compiling non-conformance reports
Provide an environment for staff to be developed and receive the necessary training by:

• Advising and assisting staff in the preparation of design documentation
• Identifying skills required and arrange the appropriate training
• Creating opportunities for learning
• Acting as Mentor for protégé's
• Professional guidance to trainees
